Today I am 17 weeks pregnant. I've been trying to eat healthy and exercise for the last few months and I am hoping not to gain too much weight. It is a little more difficult for me because I'm a vegetarian and I have to make sure to eat enough protein and eat nutritious things for the baby. I've been eating fish, eggs, and nuts which my doctor said have a lot of protein. Although I live in Japan, most of the food I make at home is American-style. I am lucky to have an international supermarket near my home, so I can find most of the foreign ingredients I need. Of course, cooking healthy foreign foods can be more expensive, but I think it is worth it. My pregnant friends told me that I will have strange food cravings, but I haven't had any yet. One of my friends even wanted to eat chalk when she was pregnant! The hardest part for me is to try to stay away from french fries!

今日で妊娠17週目です。
この2、3ヶ月、私はなるべく食事に気を付けるようにして
体も動かすようにして、体重が増えすぎないようにして
いました。
しかし、それは私にとっては少し難しくもありました。
と言いますのも、実は私はベジタリアンなのですが、赤ちゃんのために
十分なタンパク質や栄養のあるものを食べるように心がけました。
なので先生が言ってたタンパク質の多い魚、卵、ナッツ類を食べて
いました。
私は日本に住んでいるとは言え、家で作る食事はほとんどアメリカの料理です。
近所にインターナショナルスーパーマーケットがあるのはとてもラッキーです。
なので必要な材料のほとんどが揃います。
もちろん健康的な外国の料理を作るのはお金も
かかりますが、その価値はあると思います。
私のママ友達は、私も時期にもの凄く食欲が止まらなくなると
言っていますが、まだ大丈夫みたいです。
でも友達の1人は、妊娠中に例えチョークだろうと
食べたくなったそうです!
私にとって一番大変なのはフライドポテトを
食べないようにすることです!
